MementoVision™

An interactive installation using the penultimate scene in Memento as a conceptual framework. The viewer/perceiver wears a pair of glasses with an infrared light affixed to them. Sensors on each screen detect the direction in which the viewer is looking. The screen in front of the viewer displays the dialogue of the scene as text, while the screen behind the viewer displays the film image. The video feeds change as the viewer/perceiver changes his/her gaze or perspective. By making the viewing of the footage elusive, the viewer is put into Leonard's (Guy Pierce) perspective, constantly at the edge of discovering information, but unable to retain or comprehend it.
